Engle, retiredGreg Engle is a retired Foreign Service Officer whose diplomatic career included assignments in Pakistan, Germany, Ethiopia, Cyprus, Malawi, South Africa, Togo, where he was the U.S. ambassador, Iraq and Washington. He was the recipient of the U.S. Department of State's prestigious Leamon R. Hunt Award for Administrative Excellence in 1990.

Engle spent his last two years in the Foreign Service as diplomat-in-residence at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. Following his retirement from the U.S. Department of State in 2008, he remained at the University of Texas on the adjunct faculty of the LBJ School (2008-2011) and also held positions as senior advisor to the Vice Provost for International Affairs (2008-2009) and associate director of the Robert S. The African Leadership Bridge

Our bridge to and from Africa is paved by the milestones in our students' lives. This year we laid our most significant milestones yet: two ALB alumni have returned to Africa and are working to drive positive change in their communities. We also welcomed new scholar, Ukairo, whose goal is to use film as a means of storytelling to create awareness about social issues, inspiring people to lead and bring about positive change in Africa.

Please join us on November 7th as we celebrate our achievements and highlight our students' journey to transform the African continent.
