The African Leadership Bridge is a non-profit organization dedicated to shaping Africa’s future through education and mentorship. Our mission is to educate exceptional African students at the University of Texas at Austin and help them become community leaders.
The African Leadership Bridge was formed in 2007 and is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. The organization’s seed was planted in 2006 when one of its founders, Rick Reeder, met John Kidenda, a student from Kenya, via the Texas-Exes job shadowing program.
With insufficient funding to continue his studies, John faced the prospect of returning home. Instead, Rick and a small group of friends came together to raise the fees needed for John to complete his undergraduate degree.
What was started by a small group of thoughtful citizens has and will continue to change the world, one future African leader at a time.
